Painting for Films

In 1986, Jennifer worked on the George Lucas production of Willow as a standby painter. Her previous film work had been the creation of two large sphinxes for Peggy Sue Got Married. She went on to work on twenty-two feature films as both standby painter and set painter.

A standby painter literally stands by camera to first serve the needs of the Director of Photography, often muting things that are too shiny or bright. She also does last minute paint touchup for the Production Designer, Property Master and Wardrobe Designer and even the Hair and Makeup department. Jennifer has painted everything from Highway One (Basic Instinct) to a stuffed horse (Jack). A set painter paints and ages sets and locations in advance of the film crew.

Jennifer's greatest pleasure was working for the stellar Bay Area directors including George Lucas, Francis Ford Coppola, Christopher Columbus and Phillip Kaufman.
